Rope and emotional play: a Workshop with JustAnotherRigger/T and Harvest Love

Rope CV

JustAnotherRigger/T (he/him) is a rigger, sadist and educator from London, England. Having begun his kink journey at an early age, he discovered shibari early in 2019. The combination of the technical skill, the connection and the intimacy it provided had him immediately hooked. Outside of rope, T works in education, having spent all his working life helping others to learn and improve their teaching. It’s this love of teaching and rope that he wants to share most of all.

Since starting in shibari, T has dedicated his time to developing his own practice, learning from some of the best riggers in the world. Primarily based out of Anatomie Studio, he has taken huge inspiration from Fred Hatt, Ropunawa and more recently, Naka-style practitioners such as DocVale and Naoko. T’s passions within rope focus on themes of exposure, semenawa, and predicament bondage. For him, rope should be something that strips the model psychologically, leaving them exposed and vulnerable. It is this vulnerability and trust that keeps him coming back to rope time and time again.

Within rope, T incorporates elements of breathplay, torsion, sharps and impact tools to create fear and excitement for the model. The psychological element is as, if not more important than the physical.

Harvest love(she/her) is a rope switch based in London. Her rope journey started two years ago. When she is being tied she enjoys sadism, vulnerability, connection and submission. She is also a photography student with her main focus being kink/bdsm and shibari projects.

With her photos she aims to show how kink can be a safe space for humans to connect and share intimacy. She and T are not only rope but also romantic partners, bringing a level of intimacy to their play.

Workshop description

Throughout their relationship, rope has been an important element in exploring a power dynamic between Ilia and T. It has provided the necessary communication to find comfort in vulnerabilities and play with rawer forms of emotions that they both enjoy. For them, rope is simply a tool to explore their relationship and dynamic. It is this journey of exploration they want to share.

In this class, T and Ilia will approach what submission means to them, and what the creation of a safe space looks like, that allows someone to feel vulnerable and submissive.

They will then demonstrate how rope can be utilised to explore key themes of fear, shame, pain and helplessness.

This will feature a range of methods but will include elements of breath play, compression, exposure, predicaments and fear.

Ilia will provide insights and feedback from the perspective of someone submitting, focusing on the experience within submission and the best practices that she has found for communication.

T will cover the safety and risks in each exercise, however tying pairs should work within their own capabilities.
